GUEST MIX: PEDRO CANOEIRO

Pedro Canoeiro came on our radar following the incredible ‘Futurismo Afroindígena’ release for Nu Latam Beats last year so we were delighted to get a special DJ mix from him. On this special mix he explores some of the roots of Afro Brazilian music journeying from the Amazon to Pernambuco across Brazil and back across the Atlantic to Angola, Cabo Verde and way beyond as well as a little bit of Moondog, plus some downtempo sounds and some of his own material.

Pedro Canoeiro is a musical project by the sound designer and musical producer Pedro Caetano, a project dating from 2017 since when it has been gaining space in the Brazilian downtempo scene, with a particular sound that mixes Afro-Latin and indigenous rhythms, with electronic elements. With this trajectory, he has the realisation of his recent work, which at the sound level acquires a unique and powerful personality, based on the diversity of Brazil, a country marked by miscegenation, and addresses innumerable identities, rhythms and manifestations.
