Movimientos returns to The Jam Jar with a special edition of ‘Cumbia, Mi Amor’– a night bringing the future sounds of Latin America with the finest proponents of the new Cumbia sound. Headlining the night is Bolivian producer Susobrino, making his Bristol live debut with a sonic exploration that blends acoustic textures & electronic beats. Joining him is the mercurial Mexican DJ Ritmos Cholulteka, channelling the spirit of musical resistance with dance rhythms & deep-rooted sound system culture.
Susobrino is a sonic explorer blending acoustic and electronic worlds, deeply immersed in the vibrant pulse of Latin America. Born in Bolivia, based in Brussels, he’s a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and percussionist. His journey is one of relentless curiosity that moves effortlessly between tranquillity and intensity. In 2023, a transformative tour through Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, and Mexico deepened his connection to Latin culture, infusing his sound with lived experiences. The name Susobrino—meaning “nephew” in Spanish—reflects his role as a musical heir to Latin America’s rich traditions. Through intricate rhythms and immersive compositions, he crafts a sound that transcends borders, a bridge between heritage and innovation.
Ritmos Cholulteka is the musical journey of Bruno Zayas, blending his roots from the ancient town of Cholula, Mexico, with global beats and powerful rhythms. His DJ sets pulse with cumbia at the core, layered with electronic, Balkan, and African influences—all amplified by pre-Hispanic instruments and immersive native visuals. With a mission to make the world dance to the rhythm of interculturality, he amplifies his beats with interactive elements, adding the distinctive flair of sonidero culture. Cholulteka has shared stages with artists like Manu Chao, Chancha Via Circuito, Fanfarra Ciocarlia, and many more.
