WARA Album Launch Party @ Jazz Café

07.08.2013
#FLAWA2020 has prepared a night of non-stopping dance with Ms Nina, a young multidisciplinary artist from Argentina currently based in Spain. She achieved international recognition as a net artist, exhibiting at Junior High (Los Angeles), La Térmica and La Fresh Gallery, one of the most prestigious galleries in Spain. Her musical career has made her one of the key figures to understand the Latin rhythms that sound in Europe.

Movimientos is proud to present Wara, the new UK-Cuban music revolution, as they celebrate the launch of their debut album “Leave to Remain” at the world-famous Jazz Café! The launch party will be on 7th August and will feature a headline performance from Wara themselves, with support from friends and family Ruby & The Vines plus Movimientos DJs. The launch party follows the 1st July album release, and is set to be a night of celebration, music, dancing, and fun!

Wara:

'Leave to Remain' is the debut album by Wara, the young revolutionaries of the UK's Latin music scene, and follows their critically acclaimed self-titled EP (Movimientos Records, 2011). The genre-defying 'Leave to Remain', to be released 1 July 2013 on Movimientos Records, sees the band take their trademark sound to higher grounds, effortlessly combining Cuba's most danceable rhythms and styles – timba ("Cuban salsa"), songo, cha-cha-cha, rumba - with contemporary urban elements such as reggae, soul, hip-hop and jazz. The songs on the album are threaded with bilingual, conscious lyrics that inject social and political commentary into their music in a variety of ways: there are songs that directly touch upon the topics of migration, identity and displacement.

The band have been packing dancefloors and starting parties on the London and UK global scene for the last three years having played at Glastonbury, The Big Chill Festival, Secret Garden Party, Barbican's Blaze Festival, the Roundhouse, Ronnie Scott’s to name just a few. The launch party follows a highly successful UK tour with La Linea taking in 7 dates around the country and is preceeded by festival appearances at Glastonbury (27/28 June) and the Secret Garden Party (27 July).
