The spirits come alive July 18th as Voodoo Love Orchestra unleash their debut album ‘Amor y Muerte’ at Rich Mix.
To celebrate we have 100 free copies of the album to give away for the first 100 tickets sold to this calaca cavalcade. And if that’s not all you can also download a free track right now!
First possessed in Brighton in 2012 from a sea of Latin and Jazz sounds, this tribe have been channeling the spirits of their musical ancestors ever since. The likes of Jimi Hendrix, La Lupe, Fela Kuti, and Lucho Bermudez come alive through interpretations layered with brass, afro-latin rhythms, and most of all: a heavy hip-grinding feel.
Harking back to the big band sound of 1960s Latin America via the back streets of New Orleans, welcome to the infectious, maverick and irresistibly swinging street music of VLO.
This is carnival as you’ve never seen it before. Don’t expect sparkles in this anarchic exploration of ‘Amor y Muerte’. Do expect dead theatrics from this masquerading brass band.
Joining them on this adventure to the Land of the Dead will be special Live guests TBA!
Plus, fresh from hosting his own stage at Lovebox, we have the festival ringmaster Chris Tofu with his blend of vintage remix musical madness. Programming stages at every festival under the sun, including running Shangri-La at Glastonbury, Tofu has been bringing his art of the ancient remix to thousands for 20 years. He joins Movimientos honcho Cal Jader to finish off this celebration in style.
