Tropical Pressure Festival London Launch

20.04.2018
#FLAWA2020 has prepared a night of non-stopping dance with Ms Nina, a young multidisciplinary artist from Argentina currently based in Spain. She achieved international recognition as a net artist, exhibiting at Junior High (Los Angeles), La Térmica and La Fresh Gallery, one of the most prestigious galleries in Spain. Her musical career has made her one of the key figures to understand the Latin rhythms that sound in Europe.
Movimientos are back at Hootananny for another funky, eclectic, tropically fired fiesta… this time welcoming Tropical Pressure Festival for their London launch party.

Get ready for a fiery blend of African and Latin rhythms, roaring brass, funky bass and a psychedelic accordion! We welcome Afla Sackey & Afrik Bawantu, led by Ghanaian vocalist and djembe drummer, Afla Sackey, who brings his musical dream of blending traditional Ghanaian music with sizzling Afrobeat grooves to life, topping it off with an irresistibly funky twist. Plus Pollito Boogaloo bringing Afro-Colombian tropical vibes with their mix of Cumbia, Vallenato and Puya. Tropical Pressure DJs, Countryman and Bobby Soul, will be keeping things grooving before and after with a selection of tunes celebrating the rich cultures of Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Afla Sackey & Afrik Bawantu:
African rhythm-driven, dance inducing fusion with traditional roots

Fronted by Ghanaian composer, conductor and master percussionist Afla Sackey, Afrik Bawantu’s original rhythm-driven, dance-inducing fusion compositions melt together highlife from West African percussion and more funk, rock genres, enhancing the cross-cultural collaboration. Their music calls for consciousness and togetherness in times of division and restlessness. The uplifting rhythm section in harmony with roaring brass, accompanied by high-powered bass lines, creates a powerful Afro-Funk sound with a passion that drives audiences to the dance floors.

Pollito Boogaloo:
Afro-Colombian tropical vibes

Raw Afro-Colombian roots music drawing from classic 60s Cumbia, Vallenato and Puya, mixing in a little electro/dub and with a sprinkling of Haitian voodoo! Fronted by charismatic Colombian singer Rafael Berrio and with their hypnotic latin rhythms, psychedelic accordion and bubbling bass lines, they infect every party with their hot rum-soaked caribbean vibes.

Tropical Pressure DJs:
A tropical mix of African & Latin rhythms
