Rumbo Tumba + Esteban Card (LIVE)

06.04.2019
#FLAWA2020 has prepared a night of non-stopping dance with Ms Nina, a young multidisciplinary artist from Argentina currently based in Spain. She achieved international recognition as a net artist, exhibiting at Junior High (Los Angeles), La Térmica and La Fresh Gallery, one of the most prestigious galleries in Spain. Her musical career has made her one of the key figures to understand the Latin rhythms that sound in Europe.
Melding the traditional groove-based rhythms of their home continent with cutting-edge electronic production to create a fresh sound guaranteed to make you dance, old meets new as Pop Brixton opens its doors to the powerful music of Argentina’s Rumbo Tumba and Colombia’s Esteban Card. We can’t wait to welcome them to Brixton and get lost in the future sounds of the Latinx diaspora.

Rumbo Tumba is a craftsman of organic loops, a one man orchestra playing, recording and mixing traditional wooden instruments in real time, taking South American folklore and Andean music into the future. Fusing rhythms and sound textures from different parts of South America with urban beats such as Dub, Hip Hop and House, Rumbo Tumba's music harmonizes the deep emotions of living in contact with nature and the everyday dynamics of large cities, bridging the gap between two worlds.

Alongside him we welcome Esteban Card and his full live band, bringing positive ancestral vibes with his contemporary production and trance-inducing percussion inspired by the Cumbia and Bullerengue of the Colombian Caribbean coast. Also reflecting experiences from the Colombian Afro-Latin diaspora, genres like Salsa Brava, Reggae and Afrobeat come together in Esteban’s music to create a brand new soundscape.

Plus Movimientos’ DJ Cal Jader keeping things moving in between and after with a fresh selection of Latin American beats and Tropical treats.
