Get ready West London because we are taking over the Notting Hill Arts Club once more for a re-boot of the Arts Club’s Rio Calling. Taking your through a musical journey with a focus on the best Brazil has to offer. Expect Carnival beats, Bossa basslines, and generous helping of Baile Funk. Kicking off our first night we have a serious expert in music from Brazil, Latin-America & Africa, Spiritual South.
Formed in 1999, Spiritual South is the brainchild of Mark Robertson, a DJ, Music Producer and ‘mad about music’ collector. Exposed to a hybrid of music which blurred boundaries between Afro-American music and the rhythms, melodies, and arrangements of Latin America and Africa; Spiritual South has continued to champion music from the hot zones whether it be behind the decks or in the studio - his ethos “creating, exposing and celebrating tropical dance music with musically like-minded, the world over”. As well as his own top releases, Spiritual South has also remixed for every top label around.
Spiritual South guarantees to deliver infectious tropical sounds and rhythms, aimed squarely at the hips, feet and dancefloor. Watch the ride!
Joining him on hosting duties is DJ Cal Jader. As well as usual blend of tropical bass and Latin classicos, he’ll bringing a special jump selection of Brazilian beats from the heart of Rio Carnival to the depths of the Amazon jungle with a touch of Bahian bass.
