ORQUESTRA CONTEMPORANEA DE OLINDA
Powerful 10 piece brass band, Orquestra Contemporânea de Olinda play a seriously swinging mix of Latin grooves, afro-beats and the rhythms of Pernambuco at The Bedroom Bar. Mais Um Gringo + DJ Cal Jader on the decks before + after the band bringing some of the freshest sounds from Brazil.
Orquestra Contemporânea de Olinda are a powerful 10 piece brass band orchestra playing a seriously swinging mix of latin grooves, afrobeats and the rhythms of Pernambuco. It's driven by the combination of some of the finest musicians from that region with expert percussionists, brass players and instrumentalists with experience in some of the legendary Frevos orchestras and top class bands like Bonsucesso Samba Clube, Academia da Berlinda, DJ Dolores e Orchestra Santa Massa.
The New York Times says "It’s a contemporary rock band collided with a traditional brass band, with drum rhythms leavening the mixture. It’s joyous and unpretentious and it gets over like crazy. With frevo — frenetic brass-band music — as well as maracatu, the stately Afro-Brazilian beat and Jamaican Ska."
Following a recent Latin Grammy nomination, and recommendations from the New York Times, they have been chosen to showcase at Europe's influential global music exposition WOMEX.

+ SUPPORT FROM THE ROUNDHOUSE BRASS
Roundhouse Brass is the legendary Camden venue’s very own contemporary brass band. Formed in Spring 2013, the band takes its inspiration from the new wave of brass bands and is led by Steve Pretty and Olly Blackman of the pioneering Hackney Colliery Band. Featuring incredible grooves from the two drummers and blasting melodies from the front line horns, in Summer 2013 the band supported HCB at their headline show at the Durham International Brass Festival and blew the roof off the packed theatre with their infectious blend of hip-hop, ska, jazz and electronica-influenced originals and covers.?
MAIS UM GRINGO + DJ CAL JADER
