MORE INFO ON THE ARTISTS

The Busy Twist

Pursuers of global tropical music culture. Hailing from London, The Busy Twist is a collective focused on rejoining the dots between Afro, Latin and UK Bass music by developing a sound which not only melds the sonic genealogy of all three palettes but also presents such crossovers faithfully.

Baque de Axé

Coming from a movement of Maracatu in the UK that stretches back till the early 90’s, Baque de Axé is the latest incarnation of Pernambuco’s Maracatu spirit in London. As part of the family of Recife Carnival champions, Nação do Maracatu Porto Rico, Baque de Axé bring the thunderous drums of resistance, the songs celebrating their community and their roots in Candomblé, and the dancers, expressing their connection with the African and indigenous spirituality and traditions that are at the heart of the art form and cultural expression that is MARACATU.

DJ Cal Jader

Cal Jader is one of the musical activists, founders and original 'dancehall caballeros' behind Movimientos. With his trademark blend of red hot 'classico' latin beats, uptempo carnival rhythms, tropical bass, and fresh global sounds he is helping to soundtrack London's thriving underground scene with residencies across the capital.

Russ Jones aka The Hackney Globe Trotter

The man behind Arriba La Cumbia, a regular promoter at the infamous Passing Clouds (RIP) for over 7 years. Over the year’s he’s released numerous celebrated compilations including the legendary Future World Funk series, as well as hosting festival stages at the likes of Bestival, Roskilde and Paradise Gardens.

Poly-Ritmo

One of the hosts of one of London’s hottest club-nights Club Sandwich and working in esteemed Soho record store, Sounds Of The Universe, whilst graduating with a music degree from SOAS, Polly brings her wide knowledge of music to the dancefloor - expect hi-tempo Jazz infused Latin and Brazilian beats, old and new.
