MUEVETE! Vs Batmacumba: DJ Cliffy's Leaving Party
Saturday 17th August, 7.30pm- 2am
FREE before 8pm, £6 before 10pm, £8 after 10pm
Muévete is a monthly fiesta - a pure party version of Movimientos, with a dance floor-slammin' mash up of raw Latin beats, carnival rhythms and tropical bass.
Following some very special international guests over the last few months Gotan Project's Philippe Cohen Solal, Venezuela's DJ Don Beto, OQuadro and Os Nelsons from Brazil, and Barcelona's Wagner Pa & Brazuca Matraca - Muévete welcomes a legendary figure from the Arts Club's history - Batmacumba's DJ Cliffy for what will be his leaving party before he heads to Brazil to live.
Batmacumba has been at the forefront of London Latin & Brazilian music scene since the start of the century and alongside DJ Russ Jones, Cliffy also created one of London's seminal club nights Future World Funk as well as releasing 4 compilations under that moniker.
To help us celebrate we have invited our favourite organic Cachaça brand Abelha to take part and they'll be providing some free cocktails early on in the night for sampling and some special offers on Cachaça cocktails for a proper Brazilian twist!
Muévete is hosted by Movimientos DJs Arias and Cal Jader laying down heavy Latin-Caribbean-Tropical heat on the decks. From the rolling Latin rhythms of salsa, cumbia, merengue and Samba to the raw urban flavours of reggaeton, hip hop, dancehall, moombahton, baile funk and dutty carnival rhythms, incorporating a healthy dose of African beats and global underground flavour.
