MUEVETE! Special

18.05.2013
#FLAWA2020 has prepared a night of non-stopping dance with Ms Nina, a young multidisciplinary artist from Argentina currently based in Spain. She achieved international recognition as a net artist, exhibiting at Junior High (Los Angeles), La Térmica and La Fresh Gallery, one of the most prestigious galleries in Spain. Her musical career has made her one of the key figures to understand the Latin rhythms that sound in Europe.

Muévete! SPECIAL

Saturday 18th May

6pm-2am // Free before 8pm // £6 before 10pm // £8 after 10pm

Muévete is a monthly fiesta - a pure party version of Movimientos, with a dance floor-slammin' mash up of raw Latin beats, carnival rhythms and tropical bass.

For the May edition we have an EXTRA SPECIAL LINE-UP in store as the Arts Club is set to play host to OQuadro and Os Nelsons two of the hottest acts from Salvador, Brazil’s bass capital in the state of Bahia!!! The bands hit the UK following ground-breaking Bass Culture Clash performances in Bahia, with festival shows in Salvador’s iconic Pelourinho neighbourhood, alongside UK artists The Heatwave, Lady Chann and Natty.

OQuadro deliver fired-up old school hip hop with their own unique Bahian kick. That’s high-velocity conscious rap, candomblé drums and dub, ijexá and afrobeat flavours – explosive! And injecting digital beats into Bahia’s powerhouse percussive traditions, Os Nelsons make the connect between Salvador and global ghettotech. They see themselves as part of the ‘hi-fi diaspora’, the Afrofuturismo generation, making a new coda for MPB and dubbing it Música Periférica Brasileira – music from the disenfranchised periphery. Based in Bahia’s desert zone – the sertão – Os Nelsons flip the flow with their dancehall/soukous/kuduro mashup – original sertão stylee.

The Muévete Bass Culture Clash special will keep banging until late with Muevete's original formula of Movimientos DJs Arias and Cal Jader laying down heavy Latin-Caribbean-Tropical heat on the decks. From the rolling Latin rhythms of salsa, cumbia, merengue and Samba to the raw urban flavours of reggaeton, hip hop, dancehall, moombahton, baile funk and dutty carnival rhythms, incorporating a healthy dose of African beats and global underground flavour.

Live music from 7pm - 9pm Muévete will welcome to the ring: OQuadro and Os Nelsons (Brazil)
