Muévete!

15.06.2013
#FLAWA2020 has prepared a night of non-stopping dance with Ms Nina, a young multidisciplinary artist from Argentina currently based in Spain. She achieved international recognition as a net artist, exhibiting at Junior High (Los Angeles), La Térmica and La Fresh Gallery, one of the most prestigious galleries in Spain. Her musical career has made her one of the key figures to understand the Latin rhythms that sound in Europe.
Muévete is a monthly fiesta - a pure party version of Movimientos, with a dance floor-slammin' mash up of raw Latin beats, carnival rhythms and tropical bass. Following May's amazing Bahia bass culture edition we have another VERY SPECIAL LINE-UP with the world famous Gotan Project's Philippe Cohen Solal making a debut DJ set at the Arts Club. And continuing the early live music trend the night will also play host to Wagner Pa & Brazuca Matraca

Muevete is hosted by Movimientos DJs Arias and Cal Jader laying down heavy Latin-Caribbean-Tropical heat on the decks. From the rolling Latin rhythms of salsa, cumbia, merengue and Samba to the raw urban flavours of reggaeton, hip hop, dancehall, moombahton, baile funk and dutty carnival rhythms, incorporating a healthy dose of African beats and global underground flavour.

Live music from 7pm - 9pm Muévete will welcome direct from Barcelona - Wagner Pa & Brazuca Matraca
Movimientos DJs Arias and Cal Jader + special guest Philippe Cohen Solal (Gotan Project) from 9pm

Philippe Cohen Solal
For a decade and a half now the french producer, composer, DJ, and co-founder of the electronic tango group Gotan Project, Philippe Cohen Solal has been making his mark as an electronic music architect and self-taught composer. He began his career performing with several Parisian bands and working as a DJ at popular local radio stations before co-founding the Latin music-inspired groups Boyz from Brazil and Gotan Project in the late ‘90s. He founded his own label ¡Ya Basta! in 1996. The label’s avowed aim is to give free reign to its passion and vision. This passion and vision is infused with a mixture of genres. As a music supervisor and composer on European arthouse films, he worked with directors like Lars Van Trier, Nikita Mikhalkov and Krysztof Kieslowski.

Philippe’s DJ-Set is a strong and organic fusion and combination of the electronic Tango music and Nueva Cumbia also including several unreleased Gotan remixes as well as excellent latin sound orientated dance music.

Wagner Pa
Wagner Pa & La Brazuca Matraca, are a quirky and eclectic bunch of talented musicians based out of Barcelona, but who tour and play in concerts all across Spain and in international music festivals throughout Europe and in Latin America. The currently have three CD’s on the market, which made the top 10 list on the world music charts. They will be releasing their new CD, entitled “Forn de Pa”at the end of June, 2013. The overriding sound of the band is samba, but not traditional samba from Brazil, though the vocalist, Wagner Pa is from Rio de Janiero. Wagner Pa has become an important symbol of the World Music scene in Barcelona over the past decade, compelling musicians such as Manu Chao to record with him on the CD entitled Brazuca Matraca. Hence, the band’s style of music could more aptly be described as ‘World Music Samba”. The band mixes, samba, bossa nova, latin, rumba catalana, funk, electronic music and even reggae to create their own unique Barcelonese sound and identity. Cesc Pascual, the guitarist of the band is from Barcelona.? He too has a wide music trajectory ranging from collaborations with Afro-Beat, Bossa Nova, Funk and World Music projects.? Xavi de Salud, trumpeter and drummer is from Tarragona, Catalonia. He combines playing bebop jazz, big band music and afro-Latin music with Brazilian rhythms.? Sanjay Peters, of South Indian origin is the percussionist in this project and plays instruments such as the congas, and the bongos along with the Cajon, an instrument primarily used in flamenco music in Spain. He has been actively involved in flamenco jazz, Brazilian, funk and world music projects with various other groups over the past decade. The band is currently on tour in the UK to promote the release of their latest recording.
