LIVE ACTS:

Jesus Cutiño y Son Cubano
High grade Cuban Salsa, Son and Afro rhythms

The region of Oriente in the far east of the island of Cuba is renowned for its music, and it was here that the sound we all know and love as 'son' was born. Thirty years ago, Jesus Cutiño was also born there too. Jesus moved to Havana in 1995 and clinched a residency at the famous Lluvia de Oro (Rain of Gold) bar on one of the city’s main drags, with the group Son de mi Terra, who specialized in traditional son. At around this time he also started to compose. In 1998 Jesus moved to London and quickly became a feature of the city's vibrant salsa scene, appearing with numerous bands including Cubanito, Conjunto Sabroso, El Equipo, Alex Wilson and Ska Cubano. In 2003 he formed his own band, Son de Cuba, to concentrate on developing his own material within the context of a roots / acoustic son sound.

Too Much Love
Soul and Funk with an Afro-Latin twist

At the core of T.M.L are songwriting siblings Vicky and Simi, lyrical partners who have been playing music together their whole lives. Vicky, weaned on Herbie Hancock, combines rich, soulful vocals with irresistibly groovy keyboard lines, while her brother’s guitar scratches and syncopations lend the music an infectious energy. The siblings are backed up by a killer rhythm section consisting of bass ('The Sheppard'), drums ('Tito'), and bongos ('The Count') whose funky, Afro-Cuban rhythms are guaranteed to get the blood pumping. The band is rounded off by another family affair - 'The Red Hot Horns', two brothers who produce massive, joyful horn lines imbibed with the elegance of jazz.
