#FLAWA2020 has prepared a night of non-stopping dance with Ms Nina, a young multidisciplinary artist from Argentina currently based in Spain. She achieved international recognition as a net artist, exhibiting at Junior High (Los Angeles), La Térmica and La Fresh Gallery, one of the most prestigious galleries in Spain. Her musical career has made her one of the key figures to understand the Latin rhythms that sound in Europe.
Movimientos Presents @ Rich Mix, Thursday 17th November 2011
A fresh programme of exceptional documentary film and unparalleled live music; bringing you one of the finest emerging musicians from Latin American music scene in London - Mauricio Velasierra - alongside the acclaimed Dogwoof documentary ‘Bananas’, which explores the under reported humanitarian issues affecting banana plantation workers in Nicaragua.

Film Screening 7.30pm: Bananas
Bananas are a staple part of our five-a-day fruit consumption… but how much do they really cost? The documentary by Fredrik Gertten sheds new light on the global politics of food. Follow the breathtaking case of 12 Nicaraguan banana workers as they tackle the Dole food company in a lawsuit that questions the use of a banned pesticide known to cause sterility. As the banana plantation workers suffer and die at the hands of the greedy fruit corporation, Juan Dominguez, a personal injury lawyer, defends the Nicaraguan peoples human rights in his attempt to force a major American corporation to take responsibility for their actions outside of the U.S. After the screening we’ll welcome a guest speaker from Banana Link answering questions and chairing a debate.

Live Music 9.15pm: Mauricio Velasierra Growing up in Medellin, Colombia, this master musician and instrument maker plays the Andean flute and has dedicated his life to the melody-led beauty of traditional Andean music. On arriving in England, Velasierra studied at London Guildhall University and started to explore Jazz and the music of Zimbabwe and West Africa. As an accomplished and impressive musician he will be blessing us with his original compositions and exquisite Andean rhythms incorporating contemporary Jazz and African melodies and harmonies.

"Velasierra's music is a facsinating mixture of latin-American melodies, contemporary harmony and Afro-Andean rhythms, underlined by clear
concepts of Jazz imrovisation".
