Movimientos Presents @ Passing Clouds

17.08.2012
#FLAWA2020 has prepared a night of non-stopping dance with Ms Nina, a young multidisciplinary artist from Argentina currently based in Spain. She achieved international recognition as a net artist, exhibiting at Junior High (Los Angeles), La Térmica and La Fresh Gallery, one of the most prestigious galleries in Spain. Her musical career has made her one of the key figures to understand the Latin rhythms that sound in Europe.

Friday 17th August

Swinging Latin, Brazilian and Tropical rhythms over two floors. Movimientos presents a debut UK show from Toto La Momposina's number one percussionist Tato Marenco playing full power Cumbia and Afro-Colombian roots rhythms, with nine musicians from his Paris based band and some of London's top Colombian players: "The cumbias, puyas, gaitas, garabatos, porros and mapalésamong others, where the force of the Afro -Colombian drums, the gaitas and indigenous flutes mixed with the European metals and the warm and sensual voices of the Caribbean, make TATO MARENCO and ROUTE 40 a spectacle not to miss."

On the bill another epic international guest from Argentina - El Mayonesa - making their European tour and fresh from Fusion festival in Germany with eccentric hi tempo Hip Hop style taking in Cumbia bass, Dancehall and Moombahton. Completing the line up from London some high tempo Latin infused Reggae and Ska from exciting new band They Say Jump, bringing "a carnival of sounds daring to test your imagination, expectations and screaming ‘dance or I will beat you’". As ever DJs Arias and Jader keep the vibe going in between acts with anything from Salsa, Cumbia and Samba to Tropical bass and dancehall whilst welcoming the brilliant Culture Cuts Collective DJs upstairs with their vibrant Tropical-global freestyle party selections.
