Movimientos presents Los Chinches // Citadel // Captain Cumbia @ Passing Clouds

15.02.2013
#FLAWA2020 has prepared a night of non-stopping dance with Ms Nina, a young multidisciplinary artist from Argentina currently based in Spain. She achieved international recognition as a net artist, exhibiting at Junior High (Los Angeles), La Térmica and La Fresh Gallery, one of the most prestigious galleries in Spain. Her musical career has made her one of the key figures to understand the Latin rhythms that sound in Europe.

Movimientos presents Los Chinches // Citadel // Captain Cumbia
Friday 15th February
8pm-3am // £5 before 10pm / £8 after

To kickstart their much anticipated UK tour and celebrate the release of their brand spanking new album "FONGO", we welcome the mighty Los Chinches to the stage at Passing Clouds. If you know them already, then you'll know not to miss this one, if you don't know about them yet then come and catch their highly contagious, skilled and original Tropical-Psychedelic-Cumbia-Ska-Chicha madness while you still can, because they're about to go global. Los Chinches will be supported by Citadel, who bring us a highly talented mix of musicians and musical styles, playing original tunes inspired by Latin, Reggae, Funk and Hip Hop. Movimientos original DJ maestros Jader & Arias welcome special guest Captain Cumbia on the decks, the "Eastern Desperado" of Paris, a specialist of every style of Cumbia. His set combines live concert [microphone, melodica, keytar, accordeon and guiro] and a dj-live-set [original mashups, digital mix and traditional tunes] whilst upstairs the Udigrudi DJ crew will be blasting the dancefloor with their retro and urban Brazilian party mixes. What else do you need from a Friday night in good old East London?

More about the acts and the film...

Los Chinches are poised to take the world by storm with their epic new sound that harnesses the psychedelic twists of Peruvian Cumbia and the Punk and Ska spirit of London. They're playing for Movimientos ahead of their forthcoming debut album 'Fongo', to be released this coming Spring, and a UK tour which will see them bringing their blistering live performances and feverishly addictive melodies to venues around the country. Boasting a crack team of Peruvian percussionists and London guitarists, Los Chinches have blazed a trail across an eclectic array of UK clubs and rock 'n' roll venues since their inception three years ago. They've been part of prestigious UK Latin music festival 'La Linea' at London's Barbican and packed dance floors at established venues like Cargo and Rich Mix. They've rocked high profile festival stages at Glastonbury, Bestival and Womad as well as sharing the bill with Ska Cubano at BT London Live and Ondatropica at Shoreditch Festival in 2012.
