Movimientos presents Lokandes + DJ Karamel at CASA Festival

05.10.2013
#FLAWA2020 has prepared a night of non-stopping dance with Ms Nina, a young multidisciplinary artist from Argentina currently based in Spain. She achieved international recognition as a net artist, exhibiting at Junior High (Los Angeles), La Térmica and La Fresh Gallery, one of the most prestigious galleries in Spain. Her musical career has made her one of the key figures to understand the Latin rhythms that sound in Europe.
Saturday 5th October. 9pm-1am.
35-47 Bethnal Green Rd ?London, Greater London E1 6LA.

CASA Latin American Theatre Festival was created in 2007 by Daniel
Goldman to fill a gap that needed filling. While Latin American cinema,
music, visual arts and literature were enjoying a great success in the
UK, theatre somehow had been left behind, CASA was set up to change
this, to build bridges between two incredible theatre cultures, to
create regular opportunities for Latin American theatre and theatre
makers in the UK.

Movimientos comes back to CASA to present London Latino superstars Lokandes. Followed by Globoloco DJ Karamel 'til late.

LIVE ACTS:

LOKANDES:
Lokandes are fronted by whirldwind musical maestro *Kanti Qena* and
related their name to the combination of two words: ‘Crazy’ and ‘Andes’
which represents the intention of their music: Crazy music from the
Andes. The project aims to create alternative music, taking the melodies
and energy of Andean music and bringing it up to date; creating a fusion
of traditional roots and Afro-Andean rhythms with other contemporary
genres such as Reggae, Cumbia, Ska, Jazz, Son, Rumba Folk and funky
Latin rhythms. They unite musicians and instruments from Peru, Bolivia,
Spain, France, China, Chile and the UK, and set their highly original
music, alongside socially conscious lyrics and a super-tight rhythm
section bringing awareness to Latin-American and worlwide cultures with
their music.

GLOBOLOCO DJ KARAMEL:
DJ Karamel’s Middle Eastern and Irish upbringing has given him a taste for blending global influences. At his regular nights in Brixton and festivals around the UK he's known for spinning sounds from around the equator, Globoloco ventures across the carnival frontier with Afrobeat, Balkan Beats, Boogaloo, Cumbia, Funk Carioca, Dancehall, Funk, Highlife, Latin Hiphop, Mambo, Roots Reggae, Samba, Ska – always finely spiced and fully blended!
