LIVE ACTS:

Hackney Colliery Band

We are delighted to have the Hackney Colliery Band in the building with us shortly after releasing their new album. These guys are east London’s unique take on the traditional brass band; a cacophony of trumpets, trombones, saxes and marching percussion with an unwavering ability to make all within earshot move their feet. The musicians are from diverse backgrounds, and between them have performed with international orchestras, cutting edge jazz bands and even Jarvis Cocker. Expect a riotous mix of funk, hip-hop and high-octane rock, with Balkan brass, ska and contemporary jazz thrown in for good measure, and a repertoire as diverse as the borough that gives them their name.

Roundhouse Brass

Roundhouse Brass is the legendary Camden venue’s very own contemporary brass band. Formed in Spring 2013, the band takes its inspiration from the new wave of brass bands and is led by Steve Pretty and Olly Blackman of brass greats the Hackney Colliery Band. Featuring incredible grooves from the two drummers and blasting melodies from the front line horns, in Summer 2013 the band supported HCB at their headline show at the Durham International Brass Festival and blew the roof off the packed theatre with their infectious blend of hip-hop, ska, jazz and electronica-influenced originals and covers.
