"To launch their EP on Mais Um Discos, and fresh from showcasing at Womex, Graveola mark their UK debut with a show at Rich Mix with their mix of Brazilian psychedelic rock and Tropicalia...
Graveola are a 6-piece band originating from the city of Belo Horizonte in Brazil, they've been steadily blossoming within the burgeoning indie music scene of Brazil, a movement buoyed by the increase in University campus culture of the early noughties. The band play a mix of styles borrowing from the folk, rock, funk and blues songbook but with more than a nod to the fuzzy and freaky Tropicalia movement of 70s Brazil.
Graveola’s debut EP is to be released via Mais Um Discos in September 2012 ahead of their debut international album release scheduled for early 2013. Recently nominated for a Brazilian national music award and having gained considerable coverage in Brazilian press, it was only a matter of time before Graveola would take the next step on the International stage.
Phenomenal song-writing, quirky instrumentation (including flute, clarinet cavaquinho, bell) and with an indefatigable sense of spirit, Graveola have set sail for pastures new."
