FILM: Rio Film School Shorts @ 7.30pm Screening a selection of the best short films from the Rio Film School this year. New film making talents work with and alongside talented filmmakers, musicians and artists in Brazil – from legendary director Fernando Meirelles or Leandro Firmino (Lil’ Ze from ‘City of God’) to street musicians, artists and Brazilian bands such as Afro Reggae, Lanna Rodrigues and Samba da Pedra do Sal. LIVE: Jardares Por Fuera have boldly set alight every stage they’ve played in the last year with their unconventional blend of Rumba-Flamenco enriched with reggae, swing and hip hop. Expect scintillating guitar-led melodies and Flamenco rhythms with accordion, big basslines, high-energy cajon and deep female vocals “…helping to push forward the sound of Flamenco but still keeping true to its traditional roots.” (Latino Music UK)
LIVE: Remolino Kieto burst on to the London scene with an addictive, masterful sound that combines Andean rhythms with psychedelic Latin rock, romantic bolero and reggae influences. High energy, well-crafted tunes with soul. Musical inspiration ranges from Led Zeppelin to Pablo Milanes, Janis Joplin and Omara Portuondo.
