To kick off their weekend of birthday celebrations, Movimientos have teamed up with Alborada a day time program of film screenings and talks, including the world premiere of Hip Hop Revolucion and a free entry panel discussion featuring speakers from London Mexico Solidarity Campaign and Nicaragua Solidarity discussing their solidarity work.

Then in evening two bands showcasing the best Latin talent in London. Plus with a special late licence top international and top DJs from the London Latin scene will keep the place jumping until the small hours.

La Papayera are one of the finest exponents of Colombian cumbia, vallenato, champeta, fandango and porro in Europe. Influenced by music from Colombia's Atlantic Coast and inspired by artists such as Joe Arroyo, Toto La Momposina and Carlos Vives their concerts also include rhythms from the country’s rich musical heritage like the pasillo, currulao, and llanera. A highly danceable experience featuring a 10-piece band lead by the powerful vocals of Cartagena’s Angelica Lopez.

After a short hiatus, Movimientos’ favorites Los Chinches are back with full effect! One of the most exciting and cutting edge acts to emerge from the new Latin scene; a combination of Peruvian percussionists and London bred guitar and keyboard players creating an epic new sound that harnesses the psychedelic twists of Peruvian Cumbia and the Punk and Ska spirit of London. Namely they draw upon the style of Cumbia developed in Peru in the 1960s - known as 'Chicha' – which, along with their unique rocking tropical energy, makes for blistering live performances.

And kicking the party off in carnival style Casa da Cachaça are London’s newest live bateria present a high-energy show fusing traditional Brazilian beats with contemporary dance and reggae grooves. It’s 10 drummers are drawn from the capital’s most famous samba schools, led by renowned director Fred Turuka, and have played initial shows to enthusiastic reception. The breaks come thick and fast – don’t miss them!

Behind the decks will be Madrid based, cumbia b-boy, and founder of the Ovni Guaraje live project, DJ Caution. With one foot in the studio and one on the dancefloor, Caution translates his unique worldview to listeners through his compositions and mixes. His rhythms and melodies conspire to make you sweat and make you groove. A champion of vinyl and all everything that is tropical and tasty: zouk, moombahton, tropical bass, and cumbia.

Joining him will be the daddy of the global-beat scene DJ Russ Jones aka The Hackney Globetrotter. A firm lover of good sounds, funky eyewear and vintage Volkswagens - it is more like a way of life. DJing has literally taken Russ all over the world from Beijing to El Salvador, Moscow, New York, Singapore, Japan, Australia, 30,000 people in Gran Canaria and all across Europe.From his seminal club night Future World Funk and more recently Arriba La Cumbia he has gone on to compile over 13 celebrated compilation CDs.

Plus Movimientos’ DJ Cal Jader will be bringing his blend of Latin Fire and tropical bass that he’s been perfecting for 10 whole years!

To complete the weekend of activities celebrating a decade of Movimientos the pioneering Afro-Peruvian sound system Novalima return for a first London show in 6 years as part of their international tour to coincide with the release of their latest album 'Planetario' released on Brooklyn’s Wonderwheel Recordings.

From their humble start, file-sharing musical ideas and producing their first album in separate countries during the dawn of the internet, Novalima is now a live musical force revered worldwide for breaking boundaries and uniting seemingly irreconcilable genres, communities, and generations. They have created an inspiring movement and revolutionized the music scene in their native Peru by bridging a longstanding divide between the mainstream and the minority Afro-Peruvian community, who have struggled against discrimination and cultural dissolution for generations.

Over the last two years, Novalima created their newest offering, Planetario to be released June 16th on Wonderwheel Recording. The album's name signals Novalima's musical growth and international connections – much of the album was recorded on tour when they collaborated with top local and international musicians. There is a strong connection to Colombia created through a remarkable recording session in Bogota organized by members of La-33 including Sidesteppervocalist Eka Muñoz, Pernett and La Mamba Negra. The album also has offerings from global artists such as Marc de Clive Lowe (UK/NZ), Panko from Ojos de Brujo (Spain), and Kumar (Cuban rapper based in Barcelona).

The story of a dynamic collective of Venezuelan musical revolutionaries. The film’s directors Jody McIntyre & Pablo Navarrete recently travelled to Venezuela, along side UK-Iraqi rapper Lowkey to spend time with charity, Hip Hop Revolución. They witnessed their inspiring grassroots work, visited one of their 31 hip hop schools, and attended their 8th anniversary concert, which Lowkey headlined.

While singing to the beat of the struggle, Chilean musicians are transforming their history into a universal hymn. Listen. Come to understand a country and its people through its music. « There will be no revolution without song » is a musical journey throughout Chile, a reflection on the power of music and an exploration of the different shapes music took during Chile’s History from the 70’s until today.

A portrait of Afro-Peruvian music as told by some of the genre's most emblematic musicians and instrument makers. Native percussion instruments like the cajón, cajita, quijada (donkey's jawbone) and checo serve as the focus through which to tell the story of how the identity of Peru's Pacific Coast is shaped by its music and culture, and how it continues to be relevant today.

Producer Mauricio Alvarez (Cero39) takes us on a trip from Bogotá to the Colombian coast in an attempt to understand the spirit of Caribbean groove, highlighting the soundsystems, the artwork, and a generation of musicians and producers creating a new music all their own.
