Movimientos is back at Brixton’s legendary Hootananny with a stellar lineup of live tropical music! Having been making the rounds on London’s live circuit for years, Manzana Tropical will be presenting their full-fat Peruvian Cumbia with an Amazonian twist, alongside fresh Mr Bongo signing Kit Sebastian with their melting pot of Jazz-tinged sounds from around the globe. Keeping things moving before and after, France’s Mambo Chick will be at the decks alongside our very own DJ Cal Jader.
LINEUP: Manzana Tropical + Kit Sebastian + Mambo Chick + Cal Jader
Full fat Peruvian Cumbia
One of London’s finest Latin live bands. Having been brought up immersed in London’s thriving Latin American musical community and inspired by the heritage of their motherland Peru, Manzana Tropical play a distinct form of Peruvian Cumbia known as Chicha, with a twist. With a live set featuring original songs alongside re-interpretations of Chicha classics with a strong London sensibility, this is sure to be a very special performance.
Psychedelic Jazz-tinged melting pot
Kit Sebastian is a duo formed in London by Kit Martin and Merve Erdem and spread between Turkey and France. Their music is a meeting point of different genres from Anatolian Psychedelia and Brazilian Tropicalia to 60’s European pop and American jazz.
Tropical vinyl-digging gems
Mambo Chick has spent years digging through record boxes in far-flung places, collecting worldly classics and tropical rarities armed with a legendary smile!
Latin & tropical beats
Cal Jader is one of the musical activists, founders and original 'dancehall caballeros' behind Movimientos. With his trademark blend of red hot 'classico' latin beats, uptempo carnival rhythms, tropical bass, and fresh global sounds he is helping to soundtrack London's thriving underground scene with residencies across the capital.
