Love Carnival with Kampire (Nyege Nyege) & Rocky Marsiano

12.10.2018
#FLAWA2020 has prepared a night of non-stopping dance with Ms Nina, a young multidisciplinary artist from Argentina currently based in Spain. She achieved international recognition as a net artist, exhibiting at Junior High (Los Angeles), La Térmica and La Fresh Gallery, one of the most prestigious galleries in Spain. Her musical career has made her one of the key figures to understand the Latin rhythms that sound in Europe.
Love Carnival makes a return to South London’s incredible Bussey Building, bringing more tropical vibes with two very exciting international guests, Nyege Nyege’s rising star Kampire, along with Luso-phonic beatmaster Rocky Marsiano!

One of Uganda’s most exciting young DJs and a core member of Kampala’s Nyege Nyege collective, we’re extremely excited to welcome Kampire for a bass-heavy set inspired by the music of her youth. Having already smashed a series of European dates this year including a much hyped set at Sonar we can’t wait to welcome her for her Love Carnival debut!

Alongside her we also welcome Portuguese DJ / Producer Rocky Marsiano. With releases on Akwaaba and Loop:Recordings, props from the likes of Osunlade & Gilles Peterson and residencies in Lisbon and Amsterdam, he’ll be drawing on sounds from Angola, Cabo Verde & Mozambique to get the dancefloor jumping.

As ever, the Love Carnival familia Cal Jader & Selecta Madmax will be representing the full spectrum of Tropical riddims, Global Bass, Dancehall & Carnival sounds.

Plus mind-blowing visuals from Oddscene, immersive interactive fun, colourful characters and vibrant tropical decor.

Love Carnival is a regular party providing your recommended dose of tropical uplift. Bringing in top international and homebrewed guests from the world of tropical and global bass music. In the past three years the party has hosted the likes of El Búho, Chancha Via Circuito, Uproot Andy, Maga Bo, Poirier, Schlachthofbronx, Cocotaxi, The Mr Bongo Soundsystem, iZem, Chief Boima, Dance Kill Move, Isa GT, Mina, 47 Soul (live), Rafael Aragon and many more. DJs running through the spectrum of fresh tropical riddims from Cumbia to Afrobeats, Dancehall, Moombahton and much more. MORE INFO ON THE ARTISTS

Kampire

Kampire is a core member of Kampala’s Nyege Nyege collective. She’s one of East Africa’s most exciting young DJs, travelling outside Uganda to play festivals in Europe, UK, Burkina Faso and Democratic Republic Of Congo. Her sets of bass-heavy music are inspired by her upbringing in a mining town along Zambia’s copper belt, where she listened to Congolese music and African pop.

This is her first year playing gigs outside of Uganda, with 2018 highlights including Sonar Festival, Le Sucre Lyon, Atlas Electronic Marakesh, Nuits Sonores Brussels, Unsound Festival, Dada Beijing, Dada Shanghai.

Rocky Marsiano

Rocky Marsiano is the instrumental/beats project of the Portuguese old school producer/MC/DJ D-Mars. His latest couple of albums, part of the "Meu Kamba" series, bring a very new element to Rocky's production: music from Angola, Cabo Verde and Mozambique.

He has performed at all the main venues and festivals in Portugal, (e.g. Vodafone Mexefest, Lux Frágil, Gulbenkian, Lisbon Casino) and was selected by Gilles Peterson as part of his night at Casa da Música (Porto). He also DJs regularly at some of Lisbon's main clubs (Radio-Hotel, Music Box, etc.).
