The Latin music fiesta will celebrate the end of the Latin American series of summer events hosted by Global Local and Movimientos at the Horniman Museum: the programme includes carnival performances from Brazil, Argentinean tango, brass bands from Mexico, and Peruvian party vibes from our very own Los Chinches!

Guillermo Rozenthuler & Rioplatenses + Tango Clasico - 12.00-1.30pm
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Guillermo is a versatile vocalist, guitarist and composer. He leads Rioplatenses and Tango Clasico, two bands featuring some of UK’s top Latin musicians. They appear regularly across the UK, performing Guillermo’s originals and their distinctive take on traditional South American folklore.
Conjunto Sabroso - 2.15 - 3.45
One of London’s most established and popular Latin bands, with a tradition for mixing all kinds of authentic and infectious Afro-Latin styles. Their performance is a percussive explosion of old school salsa, son, guajira, cha cha, bolero and heavy cumbia, that keeps audiences glued to the dance floor wherever they play.
Los Chinches - 4.30 - 5.45
One of the most exciting acts to emerge from the new Latin scene, with their epic new sound that harnesses the psychedelic twists of Peruvian cumbia and the punk and ska spirit of London. They draw upon the style of cumbia developed in Peru in the 1960s - known as 'chicha' – which, along with their unique rocking tropical energy, makes for blistering live performances and an ever-growing reputation.

Maracatudo Mafua - 1.30-2.15pm & 3.30-4.15pm
A London-based maracatu group with musicians and dancers from different parts of the world: Brazil, Ecuador, French Guinean and the UK. Through voice, music and dance they share the power of maracatu - a traditional Afro-Brazilian rhythm, dance and culture from the Northeast of Brazil.
Voodoo Love Orchestra - 2.30-3.15pm & 4.30-5.15pm
Hark back to the big band sound of 1960s Latin America and Africa with infectious, maverick and irresistibly swinging street music. This globe-trotting ensemble covers a whole range of pan-Atlantic sounds: Colombian cumbia, Cuban comparsa, Nigerian afrobeat, Jamaican ska and Ghanaian highlife.
