Havana Calling presents Muévete! with Aroop Roy (Gamm Records)

To kick the year off in style we welcome producer / DJ and re-edit master Aroop Roy (GAMM Records) for the monthly fiesta Muévete with it's original formula of uptempo Latino-Caribbean-Tropical soundclash vibe where classic rhythms get bastardised and twisted up for the modern dancefloor.

Fresh from the huge success of his Brazil breakdown series on the legendary label GAMM Records, Aroop joins us with a vast array of musical influences and 10 years experience as an international DJ and musician. His music blends together the organic sounds of jazz, afro, funk and soul with the deep electronic edge of house, techno and hip hop in a unique and original way that will appeal to both a wide range of music lovers and club DJs. Aroop's eclectic work as a producer has been supported worldwide by numerous tastemakers including Gilles Peterson, Karizma , Kyoto Jazz Massive, Kevin Beadle and Laurent Garnier.

In 2009, his compilation “absolute!!:Sounds From Tokyo” was released worldwide to critical acclaim and he was invited to do a guest mix on Gilles Peterson's legendary Worldwide radio show. In 2006, he was selected to take part in the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy where he had the chance to work with amongst others, legendary Motown producers the Mizell Brothers.

PURE TROPICAL PARTY VIBES!! A favourite for Saturday night crowds in West London, Muévete is a monthly fiesta - a pure party version of Movimientos, with a dance floor-slammin' mash up of raw Latin beats and tropical bass. From the rolling Latin rhythms of salsa, cumbia, merengue and Samba to the raw urban flavours of reggaeton, Hip Hop, dancehall, moombahton, baile funk and dutty carnival rhythms, incorporating a healthy dose of African beats and global underground music.

Put simply Muévete translates as 'Move it!' so we're not beating around the bush - straight to the dancefloor!
