Decks: DJs
Cal Jader & special guest DJ Tahira (Sao Paulo)
Live:
Animanz (Early from 7.30pm)
This month DJ Cal Jader is joined by the legendary Brazilian selector and producer Tahira for the monthly fiesta that is?Muévete with it's original formula of uptempo Latino-Caribbean-Tropical soundclash vibe where classic rhythms get bastardised and twisted up for the modern dancefloor.
Making a
long awaited return to London the DJ, producer and digger Tahira blends genres
and eras, from traditional sounds to the electronic mixtures from the DJ
culture, hugely influenced by African, Latin, Brazilian, jazz, 70s funk,
disco and soul music.
His recent
releases including 'Baiano' with Mental Abstrato on Far Out Recordings have
been gaining him many plaudits from the likes of François K, Gilles
Peterson, Laurent Garnier and Nickodemus - whilst his edit of Gilberto Gil's
'Toda Menina Baiana' was even given the thumbs up by Gil himself who shared on
his Twitter and Facebook.
Plus on the
early live set from 7.30pm there's a chance to catch west London's very own
local Afro-Latin Hip Hop punks Animanz with their riotous very funky sounds.
PURE
TROPICAL PARTY VIBES!! A favourite for Saturday night crowds in West London,
Muévete is a monthly fiesta - a pure party version of Movimientos, with a dance
floor-slammin' mash up of raw Latin beats and tropical bass. From the rolling
Latin rhythms of salsa, cumbia, merengue and Samba to the raw urban flavours of
reggaeton, Hip Hop, dancehall, moombahton, baile funk and dutty carnival
rhythms, incorporating a healthy dose of African beats and global underground
music.
Put simply
Muévete translates as 'Move it!' so we're not beating around the bush -
straight to the dancefloor!
