Futurismo Ancestral

Futurismo Ancestral embarks on a debut voyage at Peckham Audio transcending borders and genres, synthesizing Afro-Latin, global rhythms and electronic sounds for a euphoric dance-floor experience.

Ecuadorian producer and DJ Joaquín Cornejo brings his live show for a rare London club set launching his new album and fresh on the back of a spectacular release on Earthly Measures. Expect deep sonic explorations, dubby spaces and organic grooves. Plus there’ll be DJ sets from the legendary Chilean DJ/producer DJ Raff (Balamii Radio) whose heady mix of percussive patterns and hypnotic melodies are laced together with samples from across the Afro-Latin diaspora. And artist and DJ Bushbby (Candela Viva / Epoka) who channels the sounds of her Colombian heritage to bring Afro-Latin grooves and Carribean heat to the dance-floor.

Hailing from Quito, Ecuador, music producer and DJ Joaquín Cornejo has established a proposal that continuously pushes the constraints of genre boundaries in a loose manner. Looking for soulfulness in machines and inspired by old-school dub methods, Joaquín uses old magnetic tape recorders and analog music toys accompanied by acoustic instruments to create deep electronic music full of texture and emotion. His sonic explorations range between deep ambient works, latin folkloric and fast paced tribal rave music. His Las Frutas EP was a big favourite of DJ’s like Gilles Peterson, Mary Anne Hobbs & Tom Ravenscroft!

‘Expect tribal rhythms, low-slung grooves, left-leaning dub techniques, splatters of footwork, and mesmerising songwriting.’ – XLR8R.

A heady mix of percussive patterns and hypnotic melodies laced together with samples from across the Afro-Latin diaspora, DJ Raff’s sound is rooted locally but resonates globally.

As such, DJ Raff describes himself as a relator – or sonic storyteller – speaking in a “musical language” of kaleidoscopic rhythms and atmospheric instrumental moods that draw on myriad influences from the Andean regions of Chile, Peru, Bolivia and beyond.  Now based in London, DJ Raff has established himself as one of the most prolific producers on the scene, releasing fifteen singles and remixes in the last two years, and amassing support from BBC 6 Music’s Gilles Peterson and Tom Ravenscroft among many others.

Bushbby is a London born and based Colombian DJ, artist, producer and event promoter who explores the sounds and roots of Latin American music.

Since 2019, she has quickly established herself as one of London’s Latin music scene’s torchbearers, showcasing an explosive blend of Dancehall, Reggaeton, Cumbia, Champeta and Dembow, inspired by the Colombian-Caribbean and UK sound systems she grew up around. Dedicated to nurturing the Latinx scene, she founded Candela Viva and Epoka, platforms that celebrate the culture’s roots, music, and people through regular events. She also hosts a monthly show on Foundation FM.
