A night in celebration of the rich musical traditions of Colombia’s Caribbean - think cumbia, champeta and a whole lot more - with La Perla jetting in from Bogotá and Cartagena’s DJ Edna Martinez.
La Perla is the result of a group of women united in their study of the folkloric musical traditions of the Colombian Caribbean coming together over the last decade, joining forces to imagine an offering that pays tribute to its cultural legacies, while maintaining a fierce originality and contemporary sensibility.
This trio of women from Bogotá play folk with personality and infectious enthusiasm, giving a dose of edginess to tradition without needing to add electronica to the mix. La Perla is at once bullerengue, cumbia, merengue, champeta and more, with each member having contributed, through arrangements and compositions, to conceptually define their uniquely modern aesthetic that has seen them set the stage alight throughout Latin America and beyond.
Now they bring their live show to London for their first ever UK performance as we prepare to move to the beat of Colombia’s Caribbean coastline - don’t miss out.
On the decks, Cartagena’s DJ Edna Martinez will be bringing her Colombian Caribbean influence and a stellar selection of Afro-Latin rhythms & tropical sounds to get the dancefloor moving.
