Honouring the lives of family, friends and lost loved ones we will transform Café 1001 inviting the audience to participate with a special and authentic Mexican ofrenda (offering) where we will pay respects and celebrate the life of those who have passed.
The Mexican market will be on hand for your Day of the Dead needs, tacos from El Nopalito alongside DJs and live musical serenades.
Join us from 3pm as we start the proceedings in the bar area.
At 6.30 into the club we go for a proper fiesta with one of the UK’s most exciting new bands and special international guests:
La Chinaca
La Chinaca magically traverses a range of tropical rhythms from Mexican inspired Cumbia to psych Latin with a deep groove throughout. Fresh on the back of their debut releases on Movimientos Records including an ingenious take on Chris Isaak’s ‘Wicked Games’. Their members comprise musicians from Mexico, Chile and the UK.
Ritmos Cholulteka
Ritmos Cholulteka aka Bruno Sin Más is one of the pioneers of Cumbia and Latin American music in the Portuguese capital Lisbon. Creator of “Movimiento Cumbiero” a movement to unify Latin American residents in the city from 2013.
And founder of NAHUEL COLECTIVO, with the purpose of spreading Latin American culture in Portugal. His DJ sets have a deep and lively energy mixed with Mexican pre-Hispanic instruments and accompanied by native visuals.
