Chico Trujillo – Sold Out

25.10.2015
#FLAWA2020 has prepared a night of non-stopping dance with Ms Nina, a young multidisciplinary artist from Argentina currently based in Spain. She achieved international recognition as a net artist, exhibiting at Junior High (Los Angeles), La Térmica and La Fresh Gallery, one of the most prestigious galleries in Spain. Her musical career has made her one of the key figures to understand the Latin rhythms that sound in Europe.
To kick off our 10th birthday celebrations we welcome, for their long overdue UK Debut, Chilean superstars, Chico Trujillo. Hot off the heels of their latest album ‘Reina de Toda Las Fiestas’, on October 25th The Garage will be swaying and shaking to the infectious Cumbia rhythms of these Chilean Troubadours.

Chico Trujillo are Chile’s most prominent Cumbia band. They are the soundtrack to every party from Santiago to Valparaiso. Their mixture of classic cumbia and hints of rock and ska has assured them audiences from every generation and every walk of life, throughout South America.

Chico Trujillo started as an offshoot of punk/Ska band La Floripondio in 1999. Sixteen years and seven albums later, the offshoot has come to symbolize a uniquely Chilean cocktail. One that is rooted in the cumbias of the pre-Pinochet days and manages to incorporate every aspect of Chile’s popular culture. They have meshed bits and pieces of Chile’s fragmented past with the global influence of alternative culture and merged it all under the pan-latin banner of Cumbia.

The concert will be preceded by Chilean party tunes and cumbia galore from Movimientos DJs and the Alborada Soundsystem. Plus there will be a selection of Chilean food available to add to the fiesta Chilena vibes.

The show is part of series of events to celebrate Movimientos’ 10th birthday. Movimientos has now been active in London and the UK for a decade always aiming to broaden perspectives of Latin culture through regular concerts, club nights, film screenings, activism and much more.
