Candela Wax brings another night of tropical sounds to The Jago. Founders Moralito and Cal Jader reunite behind the decks, joined this time by special guest DJ Tiki Boom, for an all-vinyl journey through rhythms from Latin America and beyond.
The evening brings an irresistible selection of salsa, cumbia, Afro-Caribbean beats, Brazilian rhythms, funk, disco, mambo, chicano oldies, and more, all delivered with the homemade feel of a vinyl session.
Colombian selector Moralito moves effortlessly from salsa to cumbia via funk, disco and jazz, reflecting his deep love of Latin and Afro rhythms. A familiar face across London’s music scene, from Space Talk to the Fox & Firkin to his own underground party Clandestina, he also hosts Alma on Portobello Radio.
Cal Jader is renowned for his vibrant blend of Latin, Tropical and global sounds, spanning salsa, cumbia, merengue, Afro-Caribbean beats, Brazilian grooves and dancehall. His all-vinyl sets for My Analog Journal have gathered nearly half a million plays, while his monthly Soho Radio show continues to champion Latin and global sounds.
Joining them is Tiki Boom, a Mexican DJ based between Mexico and Bilbao. Her speciality is cumbia in all its forms —sonidera, Colombian, Peruvian— alongside boogaloo, 70s salsa, guaracha, mambo, guajira, plena, Chicano oldies and Latin soul. She mixes sounds for those who long for their roots and dream of sweating out their nostalgia on the dancefloor.
