Big Ben Jorge
1970s explosive Samba Funk party music
Big Ben Jorge is a south London based group playing explosive tropical dance music inspired by 70's Brazilian pop music, particularly that of maestro Jorge Ben. Infectious groove and audacious costumes galore!
Manzana Tropical
Full fat Peruvian Cumbia with a twist of tribal Amazonian rhythms
Manzana Tropical is an exciting Latin act from London playing the form of Peruvian Cumbia known as Chicha. Having been brought up immersed in London’s thriving Latin American musical community, young musicians Manuy and Cleyder Figueroa began the project inspired by the heritage of their motherland in Peru. Their music incorporates a homage to classic Peruvian acts including Grupo Nectar, Los Pakines and Chacalon as well as Latin legends such as Santana, combined with a strong London sensibility. Manzana’s live set comprises some re-interpretations of Chicha classics and some original songs.
Edd Bateman’s West African Love Affair
Grooving West African rhythms
After 15 years of collaborating with African musicians throughout the world, British bass player Edd Bateman launches a campaign to promote his debut album. Scintillating kora and marimba combine with relentless soukous guitar and subtle Senegalese mbalax grooves over a captivating Cameroonian backbeat - and all underpinned by Edd’s pulsating basslines.
