Balkan VS Cumbia London

31.01.2020
#FLAWA2020 has prepared a night of non-stopping dance with Ms Nina, a young multidisciplinary artist from Argentina currently based in Spain. She achieved international recognition as a net artist, exhibiting at Junior High (Los Angeles), La Térmica and La Fresh Gallery, one of the most prestigious galleries in Spain. Her musical career has made her one of the key figures to understand the Latin rhythms that sound in Europe.
After smashing their London debut in 2019, legendary international night Balkan vs Cumbia return to the capital with a fiery lineup of DJs and live acts. Chile’s Insultanes will be bringing their explosive blend of Balkan and Latin beats to Hootananny Brixton, while local cumbia legends Malphino and Mexico’s DJ Gypsy Box make their long-awaited return. A genre clash for the ages, this is not one to miss.

Explosive Balkan Beats from Chile

Balkan, Latin & urban styles blend together to create an explosive mix unique to Chile’s Insultanes. Mixing the colourful clamour of carnival with the somber resilience of the suburbs, Insultanes have been making waves up and down their home country for a few years now, launching their debut album “Sonido Volcánico” in 2018.

Hypnotic Cumbia & Tropical Rhythms

Malphino are an outer-national, mystical band from an imaginary tropical island - a promised land of hypnotic cumbia rhythms, subtle digital warbling, accordion textures, voodoo vapours and woodblock charm awaits.

Electro Cumbia meets Balkan trail-blazer

Originally from Mexico, Gypsy Box has resided in Spain for years, where he has set himself apart as one of the pioneers of the Balkan-Cumbia scene in Europe. A tireless traveler, he has already toured half the world carrying this Latin-Balkan signature sound and making everybody move on the dance floor.

Latin Beats Allstar

Cal Jader is one of the musical activists, founders and original 'dancehall caballeros' behind Movimientos. With his trademark blend of red hot 'classico' latin beats, tropical bass, and fresh global sounds he is helping to soundtrack London's thriving underground scene with residencies across the capital.

Folkloric Electro-Cumbia

DJ Manifiesta performs a danceable mix of Electro-Cumbia, Balkan & Afro-Diaspora beats, unified in their folkloric roots. From Punky free-culture origins, Manifiesta has played in well known clubs and festivals in Colombia, Mexico, Europe, New York and more, gathering diverse and unique rhythms with a spirit of revolt and love for the music.
