21.09.2018
#FLAWA2020 has prepared a night of non-stopping dance with Ms Nina, a young multidisciplinary artist from Argentina currently based in Spain. She achieved international recognition as a net artist, exhibiting at Junior High (Los Angeles), La Térmica and La Fresh Gallery, one of the most prestigious galleries in Spain. Her musical career has made her one of the key figures to understand the Latin rhythms that sound in Europe.
Bahian powerhouse Afrocidade fly in from Salvador bringing a unique blend of Afro-Brazilian rhythms, Dub, Dancehall and Afrobeat alongside London-based women's collective Baque Luar’s multi-vocal percussive grooves.

MORE INFO ON THE ARTISTS

Considered one of the most exciting bands in Bahia, Afrocidade are heavily influenced by the sounds of their home state as well as Dancehall, Afrobeat and Dub.? Keen to question the world around them, they express their views through their music, with their lyrics carrying reflections on inequality and black consciousness.

Beginning as a group of percussionists coming together, the band’s sound has grown to incorporate many aspects of African-inspired music including popular Brazilian rhythms such as Arrocha and Pagode as well as Dancehall, Dub, Reggae and Afrobeat for example.

Meaning "moonlit beat", Baque Luar is also an ongoing exploration of female rhythmic creativity, engaging critically with gender imbalances in drumming traditions worldwide as well as the music industry at large.

They are a London-based collective of female vocalists and percussionists, united by their love of Afro-Brazilian roots music. Drawing inspiration from the rich soundscapes and traditions of maracatu, coco, bumba meu boi, tambores de Minas, and ciranda, as well as sacred rhythms of Brazilian candomblé, Baque Luar combine original multi-vocal compositions and arrangements with powerful percussive grooves.
