One of the most active Latin American events organisations in the UK, Movimientos is a live music and clubnight events programmer & promoter, with a broad depth of experience working with a high-profile network of venues, festivals, and partners across the UK and Europe.
As a not-for-profit organisation working for 20 years, Movimientos is dedicated to bringing the best and freshest Latin American live music and DJs to audiences, championing artists who explore identity, activism and heritage through sound.
We aim to broaden perceptions of Latin music beyond mainstream genres by providing a platform for artists who are bringing brand new fusions to the stage; including artists with African, Andean, Caribbean and other global influences, from Folklore, to Latin Jazz, Salsa and Samba, to Cumbia, Hip Hop, Dancehall, Dub & Reggaeton as well as more electronic and experimental sounds.
As well as various residencies at different venues around London we have held down consistent regular events at Rich Mix, Notting Hill Arts Club, Passing Clouds and Hootananny Brixton (for 8 years), we’ve also promoted shows at some of the best live music venues in London including The Jazz Cafe, Village Underground, Omeara & The Garage.
Over the years we have toured local and international live acts around the country as well as booking bands and performers at hundreds of festivals and private events. We launched Movimientos Records in 2013 as an additional platform for releasing some of our favourite the music from the UK and scene worldwide. And our events have always provided an open platform for independent filmmakers and organisations to highlight issues and raise awareness of what are mostly unreported topics relating to Latin America.
