Inspired by Barranquilla Carnival which happens just days earlier we've put together a top notch line up of Afro-Latin inspired music with London's finest Soukous meets Salsa outfit Grupo Lokito and have invited Colombian DJ Edna Martinez who's currently taking Berlin by storm with her Tropical Pico parties to play alongside Movimientos' Cal Jader.
Grupo Lokito was formed in 2006 ago by Latin piano player Sara McGuinness and Congolese singer Jose Hendrix Ndelo They play an exciting blend of Congolese music and Salsa.
The band’s live show is an exuberant display of the sheer joy the music brings. The singers shift effortlessly between melodious Rumba and lively Salsa before the band slips seamlessly into “Sebene” with soaring guitars and wild choreographed dance moves. With the quality of its musicianship and its powerful live shows, the band has been making waves both here in London and in Kinshasa and are not to be missed.
Edna Martinez grew up in Cartagena de Indias, in the Colombian Caribbean which influence her musical selection: African organic rhythms, Tropical sounds, Champeta, Cumbia, Latin and even Arabic folklore. She is an artist, creator and organizer of cultural events like "Prende la Vela" that faithfully recreate the Afro-Latin culture in Berlin, "Latinarab", and co-founder of "Kréyol" and she is also?a lover of records and dancing.
