Monthly Nights & Special Events

Movimientos hosts two monthly nights - one in Angel at the Salmon and Compass bar, and more recently at the Notting Hill Arts Club, Notting Hill. Both nights pack in crowds and have generated a following of Latin music aficionados, documentary film buffs and politically conscious groups and individuals. These regular nights have been listed in Time Out magazine as “especially recommended” for quite some time.

The nights, themed by a different Latin American country each time, showcase the latest documentary or feature films, bring together DJs, MCs and acoustic artists at the forefront of the Latin music scene in London as well as independent political activists and campaign groups that support the social movements in Latin America. The films, which are screened at the start of the night, are often followed by a Q&A session with the filmmaker or campaign group that focuses on the country selected to theme the night.

This year, Movimientos has been invited to join the jury for the 17th Latin American Film Festival. Once again, Movimientos will host the official launch party (1st Novemeber at the Salmon & Compass) as well as curate the finale with a day of workshops, screenings and live music.
