It’s carnival season and we’re back for the first Love Carnival of 2019, returning to South London’s legendary Bussey Building, bringing more tropical vibes with a very exciting international guest, Italy’s Populous, alongside some live Samba Reggae from Dendê Nation and guest DJs SNO & Papaoul!

Multi-instrumentalist and producer Populous has been experimenting with global sounds for close to 20 years now. His latest album Azulejos was inspired by his time in Lisbon and takes in a huge range of influences, from South American Cumbia & Andean Folklore, to Caribbean rhythms, Angolan Kuduro and South African Gqom. Stepping up to the decks for a special set, we can’t wait to welcome Populous and his lively blend of global club sounds to Love Carnival.

Also on the night, Dendê Nation will be presenting their Samba Reggae drum ensemble live. Inspired by the Afro-Brazilian blocos of Bahia, experience the stirring beats of Brazil as Dendê Nation bring the thunderous energy of carnival to South London!

Alongside them, we’re extremely excited to welcome Banana Hill resident SNO, with her amazing collection of Afrobeat, Soukous, Zouk, Highlife and more, as well as Worldwide FM selector Papaoul playing the freshest in sounds from across the Latin & global music scene.

As ever, the Love Carnival familia Cal Jader & Selecta Madmax will be representing the full spectrum of Tropical riddims, Global Bass, Latin heat, Afrobeats, Dancehall & Carnival sounds.

Plus mind-blowing visuals from Oddscene, immersive interactive fun, colourful characters and vibrant tropical decor.

Love Carnival is a regular party providing your recommended dose of tropical uplift. Bringing in top international and homebrewed guests from the world of tropical and global bass music. In the past three years the party has hosted the likes of El Búho, Chancha Via Circuito, Uproot Andy, Maga Bo, Poirier, Schlachthofbronx, Cocotaxi, The Mr Bongo Soundsystem, iZem, Chief Boima, Dance Kill Move, Isa GT, Mina, 47 Soul (live), Rafael Aragon, Kampire (Nyege Nyege), Kaleema and many more. DJs running through the spectrum of fresh tropical riddims from Cumbia to Afrobeats, Dancehall, Moombahton and much more.
